Kenny Wilkerson of Nova Rex: Ain't Easy Being Cheesy

Leather jackets, teased hair, makeup, hair spray, tight pants and loud music. Put them all together and what you have is the perfect recipe for 1980s heavy metal. The era brought us a host of flamboyant bands including Nova Rex who crisscrossed the country packing clubs with screaming fans, while releasing records on major labels and landing corporate sponsorship. Seriously, what better band could you ask for to tell the story of the hair-band era than Nova Rex? They were in the trenches, worked harder than most and lived to tell about it in their own documentary "Ain't Easy Being Cheesy" by Dean Robinson.

The documentary (available on Netflix and on the Documentary Channel) captures late-1980s, early-1990s good-time party rock 'n' roll and its crash into the wall of serious grunge. Members of Nova Rex, including G&L player Kenny Wilkerson, lay it all out there and reminisce about the good old days. It's a must see for any rock & roll history buff.

Kenny is playing G&L basses exclusively, which you can hear on the new cut "Crank It Up" from Nova Rex on Quantum Records, as well as on tour. The band recently played the Whisky a Go Go in Hollywood where Kenny rocked his G&L SB-2™. Connect with Kenny Wilkerson and Nova Rex on-line at www.facebook.com/NovaRexRocks.
